All About Me

My name is Megan Reid. I am 18 years old and I live in the state of New Hampshire in the United States. I recently graduated (Class of 2013) from Inter-Lakes High School .

I live in a beautiful tri-level ranch right in the town of Center Harbor. I live with my parents and my younger brother, Tyler.

Center Harbor is located in the Lakes Region, which is a great community to live in. There is a major tourist attraction here because of the lakes and mountains. The population of Meredith and Center Harbor combined is about 7,337, although it fluctuates with the extreme winters and summers. The town is craziest during summer vacation. The economy thrives on the tourism; restaurants, shops, ski resorts, hotels and activities around the region make us the most money.

During my free time, (which isn't often) I enjoy being with family and friends while visiting some of my favorite places in the Lakes Region like restaurants, beaches, theaters, sports games and shopping malls. I also like listening to music, watching movies and hanging out at home.

I enjoyed participating in sports, clubs, and leadership positions throughout high school. All are activities/groups that I hope I can continue to get involved in, perhaps at college. I was on the varsity volleyball team in the fall and the varsity tennis team in the spring. I also played volleyball for a travel team in the winter. I thoroughly enjoy volleyball, though I do like trying new sports as well. I also participated in plays and musicals with my school drama club. I held many leadership positions throughout my high school years. I was an active member of my class government. I organized class activities, helped with fundraisers, and handled my duties as class treasurer. I was co-president of our chorus. Also, I was the attendance secretary for National Honor Society.

I have devoted a lot of time to my many interests, especially my education, performing, and volunteering.
As far as education, I maintained high honors throughout my high school career. One of my biggest academic achievements was getting selected for the St. Paul’s Advanced Studies Program for July 2012. This program was academically challenging and prepared 570 of the top students in New Hampshire, including myself, for college. Getting selected reflects my hard work and dedication to my education. I graduated in the top 10 of my class, was recognized as a NH scholar, and recieved numerous academic and sportsmanship awards over the years.

Outside of school, I spent my time doing musical theater with different groups around the Lakes Region. I started dance at age 2 ½ and continued to take classes for 9 years. I started singing and acting in elementary school around the 4th grade and immediately loved it. I have been performing in different plays ever since. In fact, I have been in approximately 54 performances related to singing, acting and/or dancing so far. Another aspect of my singing is performing our national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner”, for different school and community events.

I go to church at St. Charles Borromeo in my town and perform ministries like altar serving. I also volunteer for different events and organizations in my community. I was a 2 year member of TIGER (Theater Integrating Guidance, Education, and Responsibility) Teen, which is a select theater group that travels around New England and performs a short musical show for an audience of young students. The show delivers messages about stopping bullying, being you, being a good friend and being healthy.

My favorites: Singing (all day everyday), FOOD (practically everything except seafood), The Script- musical genious!, all types of music really, Something Borrowed (I watch it in Spanish because I've seen it so many times), NCIS & NCIS:LA, Grey's Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, attractive male actors like: Ryan Reynolds, Eric Christian Olsen, Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron, and many more.., Fanfiction (i'm obsessed! it's a problem..), photoshop and shutterfly (I love making sentimental memory stuff), art- specifically drawing, the ocean, city skylines, theme parks with rollercoasters/thrill rides, piggies (yes I collect stuffed animal pigs and trinkets and will one day own a teacup pig), writing (if you couldn't tell by all these words), ANDDD shoes- I avoid the shoe sections because otherwise it's trouble.

That pretty much covers myself. As a way to sum this up, I will say that I hope to come back from my year abroad ready to take on Centre College in Danville, KY. Although I do not know what I would like to do as far as an eventual career, I hope this experience abroad helps me figure it out. The most important part about choosing a career for myself is picking something that I am passionate about and that I will be happy doing anywhere. And I hope to learn and grow over the year and come back with a new All About Me page based on my life in Machala, Ecuador.

Thanks for reading my blog! <3
